Trend Spotting: Furnishings Inspiration from the Ideal Home ShowPosted 15/03/2017
This year’s Ideal Home Show will be hosted at London Olympia from the 24th March. If you are looking to see how top interior designers are setting the latest trends, then this is the exhibition to visit. The roomsets at the Ideal Home Show are sponsored by Good Homes magazine. If you can’t make it to the show, don’t worry! We’re featuring some of the design features to look out for.

Get the Blues in the Living Room

Denim is the on-trend fabric to look out for. Curtains and cushions that look like they’ve been made out of a used pair of Levi’s may only appeal to a minority of your customers, but others will be inspired to play with the blue colour palette. Pastel blue walls can be paired with darker tones in their blinds, curtains and soft furnishings.

Pendant Lights over the Dining Room Table

Hanging pendant lights are popular this year. The trend is to have them hanging low over the dining room table as part of a rejection of the farmhouse aesthetic and embrace of the industrial. Where farmers obey the rhythms of the day, industry controls those rhythms. Blinds play their part here, allowing you to control the amount of natural light coming into a room.

Monochromatic Bathroom

Monochrome is back and in a big way. In the Good Homes magazine bathroom roomset at the Ideal Home Show, everything – the fittings, the tiling, the blinds – is in black and white and grey. The effect of these neutral colour stories is to create a calming, sensual, relaxing atmosphere that is evocative of a spa.

Danish Inspired Bedroom

Interior designer Ilse Crawford defines the Danish word "hygge" as meaning "...to focus on the moment. Making the ordinary, extraordinary. Making the normal special."  This year, the hygge phenomenon is manifesting itself in the bedroom. Expect to see many luxurious and embellished throw cushions throughout bedroom interiors. Long drapery is also in – curtains of plush velvety material stretching to the floor.
