Child Safety: Making Existing Blinds SaferPosted 26/02/2015

Many of your customers will have children of their own, or frequently have friends and family visiting with children, so it's very important that their blinds are child safe. This doesn't mean they have to replace their existing blinds though; there are alternative ways to adapt their current blinds and ensure they are child safe too. Since 2014 there have been legal requirements put in place for all internal window blinds to comply with child safety and we have a selection of safety devices for your customers existing blinds.

Existing Blinds

It is very easy for young children to get caught up in a pull cord or chain, sometimes resulting in strangulation and entanglement. To prevent this from happening, there are three different options available:

  • Chain-break connector: These will break apart when weight is applied, but can simply be reconnected to their original state.
  • Cord/Chain tidys & tensioners: These can be attached to the wall adjacent from the blind with the cord out of reach of children. The cord or chain will then be permanently taut./li>
  • Cleat: This should be attached next to the blind, on a wall or other surface. For peace of mind, this device should be out of reach of children and a minimum of 1.5 metres from the floor.

At LCB we have a range of different safety devices for your customers window blinds, if you would like more information on what we have available please contact us on 01603 789678 or drop us an email at websales@lovelesscooksblinds.co.uk.
