CUTTING
TRACKS TO FIT
All plastic tracks can be cut to size. Use a fine tooth hacksaw,
ensure a square cut and remove burrs. When cutting two lengths of
track (to be joined together) make the cuts from each end, not in
the middle, to ensure a clean
join.
|
Please
Read
Tips & Advice.
|
JOINING
TWO TRACKS TOGETHER
Most uncorded tracks can be joined together to make longer lengths.
Always :
- make
the join in the centre of the track
- support
the join to each side with brackets
- use
the correct track joiner, available as an accessory.

SPECIAL
FIXING REQUIREMENTS
All tracks come complete with everything needed to fit them to a wooden
batten or wooden window frame.
A batten is recommended to ensure stronger fixing to concrete lintels
using fewer, bigger fixings. It is also easier to get the tradck level
when ficing to a wooden batten.
if you choose not to fit a batten, you must ensure you use the appropriate
fixings for the surface you are mounting the track onto.
If you intend to fix your track to PVC or aluminium window frames
- consult the window supplier first.
Leverlock brackets supplied with most tracks are designed for easy
fixing and removal of tracks.
Most tracks can be fitted to either the ceiling or the wall with the
same brackets.
USING
TRACKS IN CONSERVATORIES
All PVC tracks will distort in great heat. Generally
this is not a problem. However if used in conservatories where they
will be exposed to direct sunlight or heat build-up, they may distort
or fail to function/
Metal tracks/poles are recommended for this situation.
MESURING
AND FITTING AROUND A BAY WINDOW
To measure the length of track required, it is essential to fix the
brackets in the correct positions first.
Using a flexible steel rule, bend it as if it were a track and measure
the length as shown by the dotted line in the diagram below.
 |
Measure
the distance from 'A' to the centre of the bend 'B' and mark
this on the track. Now make the bends. If the track is still
too long, trim excess from each end.
If in doubt, cut it longer than required and trim to size. |
- Extra
brackets may be needed when fitting track around a bay.
- A
warm track is easier to bend - but never subject it to extreme
or direct heat, e.g. hairdryer.
- To
avoid tracks springing back and causing an injury, when fitting
the track always start from the middle and lock brackets in place
along the way.
CURVING
TRACKS TO FIT A BAY WINDOW
The
following products can be used in a bay window, but some tracks cannot
be curved as tightly as others. Use the table and diagram below to
work out how tightly each track can be bent, and its suitability to
your customers' needs - all bays are different!
